Illinois Tech Paul V. Galvin Library Exhibition 2023-24

Jane Olin—In the Company of Trees will be shown at Illinois Tech University in Chicago, IL from September 2023 to March 2024. The exhibition is guest curated by Helaine Glick and Christina Nafziger.

Illinois Tech’s prestigious Institute of Design was founded by Bauhaus alumni, Lázló Moholy-Nagy in 1937. The Design Institute offered one of the first university photography programs, which ran from the early 1940s to the mid-1970s.

Leaders in photography Harry Callahan and Aaron Siskind were among its faculty, which also included luminaries like John Cage and Buckminster Fuller. Renowned photographer Linda Connor, a beloved professor at the San Francisco Art Institute from 1969 through its closure in 2022, graduated from the Design Institute with a photography degree, and has praised its photography program.

I am thrilled to become a part of this long photographic history.

FAPA Fine Art Photography Awards 2022-23

My series Intimate Conversation was awarded Third Place in the Professional Nature category of the Fine Art Photography Awards (FAPA), 2022-23.

Prix de la Photographie PX3 2023

The Intimate Conversation collection won Honorable Mention, Professional Fine Art, Nature/Trees category in the 2023 PX3 Prix de la Photographie de Paris.

IPA Top 5 Jury Official Selection 2022

My portfolio Intimate Conversation was honored with a Top 5 Jury Official Selection in the 2022 IPA International Photography Awards.  It was also acknowledged with an Honorable Mention in the Analog Film/Fine Art category.

NUMU New Museum of Los Gatos

Solo exhibition, Jane Olin - In the Company of Trees, was on display at NUMU, the New Museum Los Gatos, from January 14 to June 5, 2022. The exhibition, guest curated by Helaine Glick, featured recent additions to my photography series, Intimate Conversation.

Intimate Conversation 25 Sanctuary of Silence received 2021 Best of Show at IPA International Photo Awards. The image will be part of a traveling exhibition touring Europe in 2022.

IPA also awarded Intimate Conversation 10 The Surface of Meaning Second Place in the Analog/Film, Fine Art category and Intimate Conversation 27 Time Temple garnered an Honorable Mention in the Fine Art/Abstract category.

Jane Olin’s Photographic Journey was written by Patrice Vecchione, a talented poet, writer, and teacher. The article was featured in the Monterey Herald on March 2, 2022.

I’m thrilled and honored to be the featured artist on Lenscratch. The Jane Olin: In the Company of Trees article coincided with the January 14, 2022 opening of my exhibition, In the Company of Trees, at NUMU New Museum Los Gatos.

Ten special 8” x 10” Collector’s Edition prints of Intimate Conversation 31 No Secret Here were created to support the Center for Photographic Art in Carmel, CA.

The Salon Jane: Present Tense exhibit took place February 20 through April 3, 2021 at the Center for Photographic Arts in Carmel, CA.

ND Neutral Density Photography Awards 2020

In 2020, the following images received ND Neutral Density Photography Awards:
- Intimate Conversation 13 Landscape of Memory, Honorable Mention for Nature, Tree category
- Intimate Conversation 15 Alone Together, Honorable Mention for Architecture: Cityscape category
- Intimate Conversation 26 The Fragmented Place, Honorable Mention for Fine Art: Abstract category

The 2020 Prix de la Photographie de Paris awarded an Honorable Mention in the Nature Category to Intimate Conversation 1 Tree with Moon.

This year, the Fine Art Photo Awards awarded Intimate Conversation 22 Dark Side of the Moon an Honorable Mention in the Landscape category and Intimate Conversation 10 Surface of Meaning an Honorable Mention in the Nature category.

The 14th Julia Margaret Cameron exhibition took place in Barcelona, Spain in March, 2020. Jurors were Elizabeth Avedon and Mona Kuhn. We’re happy to announce that four photographs won awards and will be exhibited at FotoNostrum Gallery.

Salon Jane was founded by Jane Olin in 2014. The collective consists of six Monterey Bay based photographic artists: Robin V. Robinson, Jane Olin, Robin Ward, Martha Casanave, Susan Hyde Greene, and Anna Rheim. Each artist creates work outside of the deep-rooted West Coast tradition of straight photography.

Coming together in 2014, the six members of Salon Jane shared feedback and inspiration that created a safe atmosphere for risk taking and creative evolution. Salon Jane quickly evolved into a group of exhibition artists. Their first exhibition was at Green Chalk Gallery in Monterey in 2014 and followed by three unique exhibitions in 2017. In 2018, Salon Jane became a vital part of the Monterey Museum of Art’s Year of the Women with their exhibition The Ethereal Zone.

The Monterey Museum of Art exhibited the photographic work of the six members artists of Salon Jane: Martha Casanave, Susan Hyde Greene, Jane Olin, Anna Rheim, Robin V. Robinson, and Robin Ward.

I am honored that as of 2003, my photographic portfolio is part of the Women in Photography International Archive at Beinecke Library, Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.

Triton Museum of Art exhibited two series of my groundbreaking work: Site Sight Unseen and Intimate Conversation.

In July 2018, I traveled to Arles, France for Les Rencontres de la Photographie, with my friend photographer, Meredith Mullins.

Arles is a beautiful, historic city dating back to Roman times with striking ruins throughout the city. Pop-ups, openings, artist talks, street artists, lovely dinners and parties were all on the daily menu. 

I experienced everything from an impeccable Robert Frank exhibition to donning goggles for a virtual exhibition accompanied by original poetry and music. 

My five photography reviews were informative and extremely positive. It was a spectacular international festival that I highly recommend attending.
