Les Rencontres d’Arles

Annual International Photographic Festival
Arles, France, 2018

ARLES photos.jpg

Traveling to Arles, France, for Les Rencontres de la Photogtaphie is a destination I’ve long dreamt of. This past July I made it, attending with my friend photographer, Meredith Mullins. Arles is a beautiful, historic city with deep roots in the past dating back to Roman times, with striking Roman ruins throughout the city. Pop-ups, openings, artist talks, street artists, lovely dinners and parties were all on the daily menu. I experienced everything from an impeccable exhibition of Robert Frank’s work, to donning goggles for a virtual exhibition accompanied by original poetry and music. My five photography reviews were informative and extremely positive. The week was stunning! In 2019 the festival will celebrate its 50th anniversary as a premier international festival. Go if you can. I may see you there.
